Framed Quilled Art : Quilled Flowers and Butterfly

This Quilling project made with the inspiration of calendula flowers.   I like calendula flowers very much because of their bright colours.  For this quilled frame work I made 2 types of calendula flowers.

For making orange quilled flower petals 2 types of shapes has used marquise and curved teardrops.  To get a shade in petals I used 2 shades of yellow strips .  Each petal is made using 24 c.m long and 3 m.m wide marquise surrounded by 2 curved teardrop shapes each with 12 c.m long and 3 m.m wide strips.
Remaining all the flowers are made using heart shape petals centered with a fringed flower. All the leaves are made with olive green color strips.

For this quilled frame work big butterfly bought good look and beauty.  Quilled butterfly is made with red white and black strips all are 3 m.m wide. Total finished work framed in a shadowbox  27x21 c.m.

Quilled Flower Basket

In the process of learning different quilling shapes and techniques I made good amount of different types of flowers and leaves.
I want to use all of them in one place rather through them here and there, this flower basket idea is the outcome :)

For the basket I used 1/8'' (3 m.m) width strips. Basket was made using waving technique which I learnt form  calire choi book "The Art of Quilling". Yellow, Blue and Pink Corn Flowers are made by following the instruction of claire choi blogLeaves are mostly made using husking technique. To arrange all the flowers and basket white card stock is used. To give the flowers a 3 dimensional appearance loose coils are used in the bottom of the flowers while glueing.

Size of finished art work is 6 1/2"x8 1/2" (16x22 c.m).
